"Testing" has always been a phase in the Software Development Life Cycle. Until the last few years, testing as an activity did not have formal processes, methods or tools.

Now however, Testing is acknowledged to be an activity with its own skillsets, processes, standards - an industry within the IT industry. Nevertheless, Testing as an industry has not evolved to the extent that the IT industry has evolved. Even today, most organizations prefer to travel well worn, traditional paths of outsourcing their testing to consulting organizations. This need not be the case. In fact, our analysis has found that outsourcing testing is in many cases, a more expensive and more risky option than offshoring without outsourcing.

Curious? You should be. And innumerable companies have established their own Development Centers in countries like India keeping their costs down and de-risking their operations. So, it is not impossible.

A outsourcing vendor will never tell you this because your independence directly hits their bottomline. The reason why we are telling you this is because we are not outsourcing vendors. We are independent, strategic testing consultants with many decades of testing experience on both sides of the table. Another thing we do not do - we do not sell testing services. Our recommendations do NOT have a hidden agenda of creating a long term revenue stream through selling our testing services. We are strategic Testing consultants who will guide you in your search for better returns on your testing dollar. We will hold your hand till you gain confidence to run your processes on your own. While we will always be there for you to guide you even after the learning period, working with us does NOT imply that you will need to work with us for the rest of your life.

Hence, on account of our unaffiliated status, we evaluate any organization, any vendor - outsourcing or tool - for what they bring to your table and you can rest assured of our unbiased advice. Sometimes the answers may not be to your liking. But it will be the most rational and most reasoned out answer based on the data made available to us - that's a promise!
